About The Blog
Hi! My name is Erin and I’m so glad you decided to stop by! I decided to start this blog because I really love history and have had the opportunity to travel and see several historic places. I really love researching the history of the places I’ve been and sharing that information with others. You probably came to this page to find out more about me, so here’s a little info:
I was born in Alaska and have lived in six other states in the US: Florida, Nevada, Utah, Virginia, Oklahoma, and Oregon. I also spent 13 months living in Malaysia, which was pretty fantastic. I highly recommend living in a foreign country if you get the opportunity. Or you could just make your own opportunity, which is even better!
I have a degree in Operations Management from Oregon Institute of Technology and work as a behavioral therapist with autistic kids. My job involves using positive reinforcement to help these special individuals develop functional skills, such as communication and basic life skills. I actually love what I do. The kids are great and the people I work with are pretty awesome. It can be challenging at times, but it’s so worth it to see these kids progress.
As for travel, I travel as much as I can. Now that I’m back to living in the US and having a normal job, I travel part-time, which equates to a handful of trips a year. I’ve been to 14 countries so far and 21 states. You can see my whole list of countries I’ve been to along with the ones I want to go to here. I didn’t cross Alaska off because we moved when I was just shy of two years old, so I don’t remember anything about it.
Other fun facts:
- I have a cat named Sadie
- My favorite color is blue
- I have 5 brothers and 1 sister (I’m the youngest)
- Ruins and historic buildings/sites are my favorite thing ever
- The Count of Monte Cristo is my favorite book
- I have social anxiety
- I don’t really have a favorite movie, but I do like action/adventure movies a lot
- My favorite animal is a polar bear
If you have any questions or want to know more about me, leave me a comment or send me a message. I hope you will enjoy what I write and I look forward to reading your comments!
I do have another blog, too. Welcome to Erin’s World. I share photos of hikes, talk about my goals, post random stuff, and include bits about my life, so feel free to check that out, too!

I love history more and more especially as it’s played out in architecture. It’s like time traveling in a way.
